I like the movie better, mostly cause I've never seen the play!

Can I vote for both? laugh

Seriously, though, if it comes to your area, GO! Even if you have to get the cheapy-seats and bring binoculars (which are good to bring anyway, wherever you sit), you definitely need to see it live!

I can't decide which I like better. I've seen the video more times than I can count (to the point of ruining the first copy, I think), and I think it was wonderfully done, except for maybe some shoddy editing and cutting of songs. You get to see the characters close up, see their facial expressions and get a better look at their personalities.

The stage version is amazing! I've seen it a few times when it has come to our area on tour, and I got to see it before it closed on Broadway. It is just so much different actually being there, immersed in the Junkyard, surrounded by cats on every side. Not to give too much away since you haven't seen it, but during the Overture where all the cats-eyes are flying past, in the live version, all of the cats come out in different areas of the theatre and get up close and personal with the audience. It is absolutely amazing. Yes, the people who did the show were considered the best of the best, but to see it performed live, you wonder how on earth these people manage to do that high-energy performance every day. It just adds so much to see it right in front of you. . . Not to mention that there are songs that didn't make it in the final cut of the video, like Growltiger's Last Stand, where Gus transforms into a pirate with his ragtag crew on a pirate ship. There is also extra stuff that was cut out of Gumbie Cat, Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer, Jellicle Ball and Mistoffelees.

And I'm rambling. . . rolleyes Anyway, long story short, I love both!

My mom said, maybe next year we could go see it, although I wanted to see it this year. She wants us to have really good seats, so we can see it. She told me that she saw it when she was little, and she fell in love with it. laugh

I voted for the movie. I've seen it live twice, but I have a hard time remembering anything I've seen. I've become so attached to the video cast that nobody seems to do as well. I guess I've been spoiled by them. Anyway, that's my vote. grin

ETA: Okay, I'm an idiot. I was supposed to click on movie, but wasn't paying attention and clicked on play and submit before I realized what I had done. So I meant movie, but there's a vote for play. rolleyes

In certain kinds of writing it is normal to come across long passages which are almost completely lacking in meaning.
