Okay, this is my horrid first-ever attempt at doing CATS makeup. All I have is the Snazaroo CATS kit (the one you could buy at the show), with its severely limited range of colors. I just wanted to preface the pictures with the disclaimer that I have never done this before, and have exactly no experience whatsoever with costume makeup. So, please be kind. . .
I attempted to do a version of Jemima that was given in the kit, and Joanna was more than patient with me.

I know, I forgot the fur bits on the forehead, so it looks kinda funny. And I'm not nearly as photogenic as Joanna (she doesn't know I'm posting these and will most likely hate me when she finds out. . .)

Actually, considering this is your first forray, I'd say they're rather fantastic. Mine weren't this good, I can tell you that. XD You've got good bases, and the details may be a bit shaky but overall you've got good symmetry and everything is in the right places. Great job. ^_^
Some things look a little odd to me (paint-wise it looks like some things are mixing that shouldn't) but I only use Snazaroo for the details, so I'm afraid I can't help much.

Thank you so much! I feel so much better about them now.  I've read the Ben Nye/Snaz debate on the CCDB, but I don't have the money or time (I wish for both) to invest in a good product.
How do you get a clear, well-defined base? I was wanting to get a more vibrant look, but I'm guessing that will be with a creme makeup and not waterbased?

Honestly, I'm not sure. I know it's possible as Roxanne does a lot of her work in all Snaz and it looks just as clear and blended as anything I can do with my greasepaints. Perhaps you could email her and ask for a few pointers?

Her work is amazing! I don't know that I'd email her, though. I'd feel weird emailing her (me, some random person who would contact her out of the blue). I may simply scour her site and the CCDB some more.

*laughs* I dunno, she's had some odd occurances. I think a couple times we found videos of regional productions learning to apply makeup, and they were using pictures of her in her makeup as references! O_O People in Australia I think.
I imagine it felt kind of... Twilight-Zone-ish for her to see that, haha. I'd be somewhat freaked out.

Wow, that is odd. But considering the scope of her site, I'm not too terribly surprised. It is pretty all-encompassing: supplies, terminology, loads of pictures. . . But to use her face? Yeah, pretty freaky.

Yeah. In a way it's very 'no wonder' because a lot of people do use her site as reference, but at the same time it's still odd. It's not just the random person, it's a whole production.
Hey, at least her name is getting out there. It's pretty awesome; she recently got to help out with a regional production that turned out beautifully.

Yeah, that'd be it! Weren't those costumes just gorgous? Haha, I hate to say I noticed the Victoria was Roxanne's Halloween costume from a few years back... I always liked the way that Victoria looked for some reason.

Aww, she sold it? It is lovely, by the way. I could never do the commission thing; I wouldn't want to part with my work, after all that went into it. I don't know how you guys do it.

I've considered taking commissions, simply because I like to create but it isn't feasible for me to keep everything I make. Trouble is I do get really attatched. Every thing you make has some funny story or other, it seems...
Like I started drawing these hatchling dragons specifically to sell them at a local store. I was already a little hesitant because they are one of my BEST drawings, but then they started to grow on me. I'm not even done with them yet and I find it hard to think of selling them. It's kind of my fault because they also begged to be named and I did... agh. Hartd to give up something you named.

I bet they were adorable! I suppose selling your stuff does help to keep the creativity going; you can't make stuff without the cash to buy more supplies.
